Cultural note:
In lesson 3, we learned the word for Chinese food: 中國菜. This can be further divided into different categories known as the eight regional cuisines. These are:

川菜(chuāncài), 徽菜(huīcài), 魯菜(lǔcài), 閩菜(mǐncài), 蘇菜(sūcài), 粵菜(yuècài), 湘菜(xiāngcài), 浙菜(zhècài)

These cuisines all correspond to a different region of China, respectively 四川Sichuan, 安徽Anhui, 山東Shandong, 福建Fujian, 江蘇Jiangsu, 廣東Guangdong, 湖南Hunan, and 浙江Zhejiang. Each region's cuisine is known for particular characteristics, for example, 湘菜 and 川菜are known for being spicy. 魯菜often features seafood. Much of the Chinese food Americans are familiar with, such as Dim sum, belong to the 粵菜 regional cuisine.
